Getting Started & Your First Class
You will start with a light warm-up and learn foundational stances, footwork, and basic techniques at a manageable pace. Nobody expects you to spar on day one. Our mats are run with a zero-ego policy so beginners can learn comfortably and safely.
Yes. Your first trial class is free. You can register directly through our website or contact our front desk to book a time that works for your schedule.
Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before class begins. That gives us enough time to show you around the gym, introduce you to your coach, complete your waiver, and get you settled on the mats.
Bring comfortable workout clothes and a full water bottle. We have everything else needed for your introductory class. If you choose to join, our team will explain the specific gear needed for your program.
Standard athletic wear works well for your first visit, including a fitted t-shirt and athletic shorts or leggings without zippers, buttons, or pockets. For ongoing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, students train in a traditional gi or standard no-gi attire. Muay Thai students train in clean athletic shorts and a t-shirt.
Martial arts is built for developing quiet confidence and body awareness from the ground up. Our coaching staff works with every personality type. We maintain clear structure and steady encouragement so every child gains focus and self-reliance at their own pace.

Programs, Style & Curriculum
We offer dedicated youth classes starting at age 7, alongside structured adult programs for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Every class is separated by age and experience level to maintain a productive room.
Wild West Training Center focuses on authentic combat disciplines: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi) and authentic Muay Thai kickboxing. Every discipline is taught with real-world application, technical detail, and safe control.
Yes. Classes follow clear, progressive skill systems. We break down fundamental mechanics before moving into live situational drilling, giving every student a solid technical base whether they train for personal fitness or competition.
Progression depends on the discipline you train.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: We follow the traditional belt system (White, Blue, Purple, Brown, and Black for adults, along with youth belt ranks). Promotions and stripes are earned strictly through technical execution, mat time, defensive control, and character. We do not use automatic time-based promotions or arbitrary testing requirements.
Muay Thai: Authentic Muay Thai does not use a belt system. Progression is marked by technical proficiency on the pads, ring awareness, defense, and earning approval from coaches for controlled sparring or competition.
Across all programs, promotions, and level advancements are earned through honest work. We never charge belt promotion or testing fees.

Safety, Location & Facility Standards
We are located in Carson City, Nevada, conveniently accessible for students throughout Carson City, Dayton, Minden, and Gardnerville, with ample parking on site.
Safety on our mats is non-negotiable. While martial arts involves physical contact, our coaches enforce strict discipline, controlled drilling, and protective rules during every drill. Reckless behavior or out-of-control training is corrected immediately.
Beginners focus on pad work, drill mechanics, and technique. Once students earn approval from coaches to join controlled live rounds, they will need approved gear such as mouthguards, 16oz gloves, and shin guards for striking, or a mouthguard for grappling.
We support students who want focused training outside regular class times. Whether you are preparing for a tournament or bout, looking to work through specific technical hurdles, or prefer one-on-one attention to build your confidence, individual coaching is a great option. Because our instructors also lead our daily class schedule, private sessions are coordinated directly with our coaching staff. Please speak with a coach about your needs and goals, and we will review availability to find a time that fits your training goals.
No. You do not get in shape to start training; you start training to get in shape. Our classes allow you to push your limits at a sustainable pace under the supervision of qualified instructors.
We post updates, holiday hours, and inclement weather notices directly through email announcements and our official social media pages. We recommend saving our contact line during registration so you stay up-to-date.
